Here’s exactly how to get free ice skating time
The most expensive thing about learning how to ice skate has absolutely nothing to do with the equipment or skates that you take advantage of every time you step out on the ice but instead the amount of money you have to spend just to have permission to get out on that ice in the first place!
Ice rates can be relatively inexpensive in some areas, but the overwhelming majority of people that are learning how to ice skate aren’t ever going to be able to enjoy free ice skating time. In fact, most are going to have to spend quite a bit of money to just get out on the ice regularly – and most of them will have to pay a pretty penny per hour and even then will have to share the ice with others.
Here are some tricks to help you get free ice skating time without any a headache for the hassle!
Get a job with the ice rink company
One of the fastest and most reliable ways to get free ice skating time is to simply get a job with the ice rink company itself and take advantage of the free benefits that they make available to all of their employees.
Pretty much every single ice skating rink on the planet (but particularly the ones in the United States) provide free ice skating time to all of their employees.
Sometimes this free skating session is only available after hours or when there is a lull in the action, but some places are going to allow you to establish a real schedule so that you can practice on your own and much more consistently.
Volunteer to help youth groups and hockey teams
Volunteers also usually get to take advantage of free ice skating time from time to time, especially if they are connected to organizations that are going to be spending time out on the ice.
Look for youth groups and hockey teams that are going to be using the ice that you would like to use as well and find out about any free ice skating opportunities that may be available for volunteers. Many of these deals aren’t going to be advertised, but if you ask about them – particularly in the rink itself – you’ll almost always find answers to the questions you want to have resolved.
There are other approaches to getting the time out on the ice for free, but these two work wonders.
