Jackson Ultima reaches across almost everything Skate Guru sells for the ice. The range runs from padded recreational boots through graded figure skates, on to boots sold on their own for skaters who choose their own blade.
How the range is laid out
- Recreational. Softec Sport, Softec Elite, Vista and RAVE soft boots, the Classic 200, 500 and 552, the SoftSkate 380 and the Glacier GS180.
- Figure skates. Excel, Mystique, Artiste, Evo Fusion, Elle, Elle Fusion, Freestyle, Freestyle Fusion, Classique and Marquis, in women’s, girls’, men’s and boys’ sizes.
- Boots on their own. Debut, Debut Fusion, Competitor, Finesse, Premiere, Elite and Supreme, listed without a blade.
- Inline. The PA series puts Mystique, Finesse, Vista, Elle and Freestyle boots on wheels for off-ice work.
- Support ratings. Many listings carry a numeric Jackson support rating, which measures boot stiffness rather than the skater.

How to read a Jackson support rating
Most Jackson listings carry a number — 15, 25, 35, 45 and upward. It measures how stiff the boot is, not how good the skater is, and it is the line worth reading first. The bands run roughly like this:
- Light support, up to about 25. Recreational skating, beginning lessons, basic glides, edges and early footwork. Excel, SoftSkate, the Classic boots, Mystique and Artiste.
- Moderate support, about 30 to 45. Half-rotation jumps and early figure training, then single rotations. Evo and Elle, then Freestyle.
- Firm support, about 50 to 69. Single rotations, axel preparation and landings, the start of doubles. Debut and Premiere.
- Strong support, 75 upward. Double jumps, dance and synchro, and the elite competitive boots. Supreme and Elite.
Two details trip people up. A rating shifts by a few points with the size run and the sole series, which is why a 30 and a 35 can appear on what looks like one Elle boot — two model numbers under one name, so read the number on the variation you are buying. And some recreational skates carry Jackson’s Medium Recreational Support tier, which has no number at all: the Classic 500 and 552 and the SoftSkate 380. Buying above your bracket is the common error, because a boot stiffer than your skating makes an edge harder to feel.
Length first, then width
Skate sizing does not follow shoe sizing, and Jackson publishes a chart per model rather than one for the brand, so read the one on the listing in front of you. Width is the second axis, and the one most people skip: B is narrow, C is standard, D is wide, and a listing naming no width is a C. A boot correct in length but wrong in width will pinch across the ball or let the heel lift, and lacing corrects neither. Three kinds of listing
A complete skate arrives with the blade mounted and aligned. A boot listing — Debut, Competitor, Finesse, Premiere, Elite, Supreme — is the boot alone, for a skater choosing a blade and paying to have it fitted. The PA models put the same boots on an inline frame, so a skater keeps a familiar boot through the summer. Fusion in a model name is Jackson’s sole series, not a different boot.
Looking after them
Blades want drying when you come off, and soakers for the bag; hard skate guards are for the walk to and from the ice, not for storage. Sharpening belongs with someone who profiles figure blades: the toe pick and the rocker both have to survive it. We are an authorised Jackson Ultima dealer, so stock comes direct from the maker.
