Jackson Ultima SoftSkate JS180 Women’s and Girls’ Figure Skates

Description

The SoftSkate by Jackson puts the padding and warmth of Jackson’s Softec comfort skates into a traditional white figure skate. It covers three model numbers split by size — JS180 in women’s 4–10, JS181 in girls’ 11–13 and 1–3 (listed as Youth in the selector), JS184 in toddler 8–10 — each with an Ultima Mark I blade mounted and sharpened at the factory.

Jackson calls the 180 a medium-support boot for beginners and skaters starting lessons. On our scale that is Medium Recreational Support, the one tier Jackson leaves unnumbered, covering rink sessions, learn-to-skate and skating for fun. Key details

• Upper and tongue: synthetic, fully lined with foam padding, with chrome inserts on the quarter and heel.
• Lining and collar: the colored lining is soft and padded, shows down the lace gusset and rolls out over the topline into a cushioned collar — the feature the SoftSkate is named for.
• Closure: a full row of eyelets with four open chrome hooks a side, so you can tension the ankle separately from the foot.
• Outsole: stylized PVC, white with a gray wrap and no maintenance needed; the blade plates are screwed on at toe and heel.
• Blade: Ultima Mark I stainless steel figure blade with a toe pick, etched MARK I and sharpened at the factory, so the skates work out of the box.
• Break-in: the JS series cannot be heat molded, so it breaks in by wearing. Jackson suggests lacing a little looser and leaving the top hook undone at first.

Colors

All four are the same white boot. The color is the lining — it shows down the lace gusset and rolls out over the topline as the padded collar, and the SoftSkate script on the tongue matches it: bright blue, plush white fleece with a silver logo, pink, or lilac purple. Not every color covers every size — the size selector shows what is currently available.

Where the SoftSkate sits

• Glacier GS180 — the same three size codes and four lining colors, on a charcoal outsole with plain white quarters instead of chrome, and the same Ultima Mark I blade.
• Finesse JS450 — the traditional boot from the same Finesse range: same Mark I blade, vinyl-coated upper, a conventional padded topline instead of the soft collar.
• Classic SoftSkate 380 — the same soft collar and Mark I blade on a boot with a tan stacked-look outsole, sold as single-color listings.
• Softec Vista ST3200 — a Softec model proper, with a textured nylon upper and Nylex lining.

Fit and sizing

One width, M, in full sizes only. Skate sizes are not shoe sizes: measure in the socks you skate in and use the longer foot. Lengths below are in inches, with cm in brackets; the girth column is the circumference around the ball of the foot in Jackson’s M fitting, and Jackson builds heels one width narrower than the ball. Jackson publishes no ball girth for the toddler sizes.
