Jackson Ultima Softec ST2300 / ST2321 Women’s and Girls’ Ice Skates

Description

The Softec ST2300 is Jackson Ultima’s strap-and-lace recreational figure skate: a soft nylon boot lined right through with fleece, closed by laces and a Velcro ankle strap, on a Softec figure blade already mounted and sharpened. Adult sizes ship as the ST2300, toddler and youth sizes as the ST2321 — the same boot under two model numbers.

Support level

Jackson rates its figure boots from 2 to 90 for stiffness, but the Softec program sits outside that scale and Jackson publishes no number for it. The ST2300 is listed here under Medium Recreational Support, the tier Jackson builds for recreational skating and beginner lessons rather than jump training. Key details

• Closure: laces through fabric loops rather than metal eyelets and hooks, plus a Velcro ankle strap marked SOFTEC — the fit adjusts without relacing.
• Lining: fleece through the upper and the tongue, rolled out over a padded topline, with foam padding behind it.
• Upper: durable nylon with synthetic overlays in the trim color, white contrast stitching and a firm counter behind the heel.
• Outsole: the two-color figure outsole — white with a second color from the boot: dark gray on black, navy and white, lilac on pink.
• Blade: a Softec figure blade with a toe pick, badged with the Softec triangle rather than an Ultima model name, attached and sharpened at the factory.
• Colors: adult sizes in black, navy or white; toddler and youth sizes add pink. Not every color is stocked in every size.

Fit and sizing

Skate sizes are not shoe sizes. Measure in skating socks: stand on paper, mark your longest toe and your heel, and work from the longer foot. Length gives the size; ball girth tells you whether the width suits you. Between two lengths take the larger. Inches first, cm in brackets.

The ST2300 is made in one width. The size selector here shows C and Jackson letters it M across the Softec range — on Jackson’s own chart they are the same fitting, on a scale running A, B (N), C (M), D (W) from narrowest to widest. The girth column below is that C (M) fitting, from the Jackson Ultima sizing chart. A ball measurement well above the figure for your length means the boot will pinch, and a wider foot wants a Jackson family offering a D/W fitting. Jackson cuts its heels one width narrower than the ball, and publishes no girth for toddler sizes.

A new pair feels firm at first; lacing a little looser at the top for the first few outings lets the padding settle.
